carnival+timePerhaps you had a chance to attend the June Kermesse hosted by the Pasadena campus, it was a blast!

The campus staff and parents put a lot of work into this event for the kids:  Carnival games were hand-made; tons of fun, delicious foods often made from scratch kept bellies full; music, and donated prizes kept young and not-so-young entertained!

In case you didn’t have a chance to attend, and just can’t wait for the next one in June, might I recommend you visit the upcoming Carnival on the West Valley campus. There will be games, snacks, and fun … and if that’s not enough of a draw… the event offers you the possibility to dunk your head of school…  yes indeed, I will be spending time in the dunk tank to support West Valley troops!

I hope to see you all there … Go easy on me!

Please forgive me while I gloat … this year, we proudly congratulated 80 Kindergarteners, 49 fifth graders, 30 8th graders and 18 high school seniors/terminals as they matriculated into elementary, middle school, high school and at college respectively. Great work everyone!

I have to say, I never quite get used to letting our kids go at the end of 12th grade … we’re never left with an empty nest, but each class makes its mark, and every student is missed even in the midst of college announcements, congratulations and well wishes.

This year’s students are off soon – near and far, congratulations to you all.

image 292If there’s one way in which our parents never cease to amaze me it’s in their generosity … and ability to have a good time!

Our Galas have always been a great success and this year was no exception.

The venue was gorgeous, the attendees looked great and the music, food and entertainment were exceptional.

As always, hats off to our Gala Committee – your tireless work paid off again.

Speaking of paying off, here’s a look at campus totals…

I love it when I get not so subtle affirmations, that we’ve made good choices, we have great teachers, a great curriculum, a fantastic pedagogical team… this blog is about one of those affirmations.

This last year, our kindergarteners got to go to LACMA, for a scavenger hunt!

I can’t describe to you how satisfying it is to see our kids excitedly running (yes running, thank you patient patrons and security team at LACMA that day) yelling out things like “Look it’s Sam Francis!” and “There’s a Miro!!”

What a great opportunity for our kids to have fun with fine art, in a local treasure like LACMA!

These pictures are great; now just imagine their excited exclamations and laughter…

poupousse-teaches.jpgYou may or may not know this, but every year our Pedagogical trainers, campus directors and teachers leave to attend a full faculty retreat for several days before school to be sure that we're all on the same page for the year. We cover curriculum, teach our teachers, and introduce anyone new to LILA life.

Today we head home, but before we go, I just wanted to put it on record that we have a fantastic group of people working at LILA. I am so impressed and so glad to welcome and welcome back our staff.

Cheers!
