In 2005 LILA adopted a new calendar schedule which chopped the school year into 7-week blocks.  Therefore, every 7 weeks students get a vacation break which may or may not coincide with major legal holidays.  For years, teachers had been complaining that students were tired and that by Thanksgiving break students were not performing as well as they would be if they had had a break.  The schedule at first was contested and to accommodate schedules of working parents, the school put in place a system of camps during these weeks off that provide entertaining and different opportunities for students.  This upcoming week is the October break.  The Los Feliz campus will be hosting its traditional “circus camp.”  Students from Pasadena, Los Feliz, and even West Valley have enrolled their children to attend what has become now a LILA tradition.

Meanwhile, the West Valley campus will have a martial arts camp and students who prefer this activity will be able to opt for the West Valley Camp.

Enrollment is not campus-specific so if a family can logistically get there, the choice of camp is very much up to the individual family.

For those of you who are not registered for a camp, have a wonderful vacation!
