Book Fairs are not an uncommon occurrence in schools and LILA’s Orange County campus has a good track record with its book fairs. This year was no exception. Despite the Santa Ana winds and the stock market crisis, the Orange County book fair was able to gross $5,916 this year! What is so wonderful is that the program, which in essence allows parents to buy English-language books, will also benefit the campus. Scholastic will give LILA Orange County about $1,600 to help fund their library to add to their English-language collection along with the corresponding Accelerated Readers comprehension tests. In addition, the school will also add to the existing French book stock… and once again we see that literacy skills transfer :-) ! The book fair is yet another way our amazing parent volunteers help bring more to the school and without their help, the fair would not be possible. Thank you parents and Mary!
