8^th and 9^th grade students were introduced to “acrosport” in PE class during the first quarter. Acrosport is relatively unknown to the general public, but is, however, frequently taught in French schools as it presents a wonderful opportunity for students to build upon various talents.  It is a group activity which encourages students to work together to put on a short production that is visually appealing while bringing together certain required elements. 

Throughout the unit of study, students worked in teams and focused on the following skills: designing, creating, and collectively judging a short piece composed of set poses.  Students had free choice as to whether or not they would set their piece to music.  The finished work had to be composed of a series of acrobatic moves, have aesthetically pleasing qualities, and be artistic.  The attached video (prepared by PE teacher Fabien Lacroix) is the original production and presentation of 3 students; their chosen theme was the circus.

Dans le cadre du cours d'EPS, nous avons réalisé durant ce premier trimestre un cycle d'acrosport avec les classes de 4ieme A, 3ième A et 3ième B. Ce sport, encore peu connu mais cependant fréquemment enseigné à l'école, permet aux étudiants d’utiliser leurs différents talents. Cette activité de travail de groupe amène les étudiants à travailler ensemble dans le but de produire une courte composition aux effets visuels captivants tout en conservant certains éléments exigés.

Tout au long de ce cycle, Les élèves ont travaillé en équipe de manière efficace et avec créativité,  autour de la compétence suivante : Concevoir, réaliser et juger collectivement un spectacle constitué de figures, accompagné éventuellement d’un support musical     et

articulant les dimensions acrobatiques, esthétiques et artistiques.
