On May 16, all LILA students in grades 3, 4, and 5 participated in the Adventures in Education program at Knott's Berry Farm.
Departure times were rather early for each campus, but families did a great job of getting their children to school on time. The Knott's educational programs focus on American history
with an emphasis on storytelling and experiencing what it would have been like to live at particular moments in time. All programs correlate to the history standards for the grade levels in
question. Third graders learned more about Native American history and culture, which included going into dwellings such as tipis and the mystery lodge. Fourth graders focused on
early California and the Gold Rush, panning for gold and making a journey through a typical mining town of the period. Fifth graders learned more about early American history and "met"
Benjamin Franklin, as well as
viewed a multimedia event showcasing the Founding Fathers. It was an excellent day, with students learning and having fun in a simulated historical setting. Thank you to
all teachers, chaperones, and campus staff who made this such a successful day!
