I am a visual learner. I retain images, remember things that caught my eye in some way, shape, or form… I guess that is why I am
so big on videos or pictures for the blog... but this time it is not a visual cue that caught my attention, it was an auditory one.
I get to campus pretty early in the morning this year but I am never the first on site, I am greeted by a sound… at first I
could not really place what I was hearing and why it had such a pleasant effect on my whole system… in the wee hours of the morning, what does one hear in Los Feliz? The soft sounds of the swish, swish, swish of a broom pushing leaves… it sends a wave of Zen over me as I gratefully realize that this soft
sound is NOT the blaringly jarring and unpleasant buzz of the leaf blower… So a blast from the past… and now I hear a glimpse of the future as the maintenance crew has replaced all of
their gas-powered landscaping equipment with zero emissions electric equipment.
In an effort to reduce our carbon footprint, create a more pleasant environment, and be an example of how we'd like our world to be, we purchased an electric lawnmower, string and hedge trimmers, and a new broom or two.
